Quartz Fabrication
Quartz Silica - An Exceptional Material
Quartz Silica Glass is very unique, incorporating a range of properties that make it ideal for use in high technological and high purity applications, it will withstand extreme conditions and situations where other materials fail, it is malleable and can be moulded, welded and bent like borosilicate glass to make a wide variety of very useful and versatile components.
HIGH PURITY - Si02 content > 99.9% = minimum contamination in process applications
CHEMICAL INERTIA - No reaction with acids except phosphoric at high temperatures and hydroflouric at any temperature. Caustic alkalis can cause reactions over long periods at normal temperatures.
HIGH ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY - 2 x 1019 ohm-cm at 20o C (typical value) = excellent insulation properties.
LOW THERMAL EXPANSION - 0.54 x 10-6 per 0C = excellent thermal shock resistance.
EXCEPTIONAL OPTICAL TRANSMISSION - from 180 to 3000nm (dependent on material).
HIGH OPERATING TEMPERATURES - up to 1,000oC in normal conditions - extremely useful high temperature operations and processes.
